“School is like an endurance test”

Throughout my life, I’ve often heard my father say that school is like an endurance test. But when we face such a test, we must allow ourselves to ask for help and be open to receiving it. My approach to Executive Functioning tutoring is one-on-one. I aim to provide motivational coaching to help students improve their stamina and academic performance by building emotional awareness and learning coping skills for stress. This enables them to effectively plan, study, organize, and complete writing tasks needed for success in school.

As a learner who had an IEP program growing up and was diagnosed with Dyslexia and ADHD, I hope to show students with different disabilities that there are many ways to view their disabilities as strengths.

I remember saying this quote during an interview with the newspaper about my swimming career. I was commenting on how I needed to push through the uncomfortable feelings of holding my breath to reach the finish line. This quote resonated deeply with me and became advice I shared with others. As I navigated the obstacles of an athletic career and learned to advocate for myself with my professors and counselors, I realized the importance of embracing discomfort. This mindset helped me face the challenges of college and beyond, allowing me to become as comfortable as possible with the unknown.
